Water & Sewer
Water System
Waverly's municipal water system draws from deep wells and distributes treated water through approximately 60 miles of water mains. The city's Water Treatment Plant ensures water meets or exceeds all EPA and Iowa DNR standards. An annual Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) is published each spring and mailed to customers.
Sewer System
The sanitary sewer system collects wastewater from homes and businesses and conveys it to the Water Pollution Control Facility for treatment before discharge to the Cedar River. The city also maintains a separate storm sewer system to manage stormwater runoff and reduce flooding risk.
Rates & Service
Water and sewer rates are set by the City Council and appear on your monthly utility bill from the Finance Department. Rates are reviewed annually. Customers may contact Public Works to report leaks, water main breaks, sewer backups, or low water pressure at any time.
Service Line Inventory
In compliance with the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, the city is developing a service line inventory to identify and catalog the material of all water service lines. This inventory helps prioritize lead service line replacement and protects public health. Residents may be contacted to verify service line material at their property.
