Streets & Maintenance
Snow Removal
Public Works plows city streets during and after significant snow events, prioritizing arterial routes, hills, and school zones. Residents must remove vehicles from city streets during snow emergencies to allow plows to clear the full roadway. Sidewalk snow removal is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner within 24 hours of snowfall.
Pothole & Street Repair
Potholes and street damage can be reported by calling Public Works at (319) 352-6247 during business hours. Crews prioritize repairs based on severity and traffic volume. Major street reconstruction projects are planned through the city's Capital Improvement Program.
Traffic Signs & Signals
Public Works installs and maintains all city traffic signs, street name signs, and pavement markings. Report damaged or missing signs to Public Works. Requests for new signs or traffic studies should be directed to the department for review.
