Water & Sewer
Waverly's municipal water system draws from deep wells and distributes treated water through approximately 60 miles of water mains. The city's Water Treatment Plant ensures water meets or exceeds all EPA and Iowa DNR standards. An annual Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) is published each spring and mailed to customers.
Garbage & Recycling
Residential garbage is collected weekly on your assigned collection day. Place your cart at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day with the handle facing your home. Standard residential service includes one 96-gallon cart. Additional carts and extra bags are available for a fee.
Streets & Maintenance
Public Works plows city streets during and after significant snow events, prioritizing arterial routes, hills, and school zones. Residents must remove vehicles from city streets during snow emergencies to allow plows to clear the full roadway. Sidewalk snow removal is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner within 24 hours of snowfall.
Permits & Fees
A permit is required for any work within the public right-of-way, including driveway approaches, sidewalk replacement, and utility installation or repair. Permit applications are available at the Public Works office. All work must meet city specifications and may require inspection upon completion.
