Permits & Fees
Right-of-Way Permits
A permit is required for any work within the public right-of-way, including driveway approaches, sidewalk replacement, and utility installation or repair. Permit applications are available at the Public Works office. All work must meet city specifications and may require inspection upon completion.
Excavation Permits
Excavation permits are required for any digging within city streets or right-of-way. Applicants must contact Iowa One Call (811) at least 48 hours before excavation to locate underground utilities. A performance bond or deposit may be required to ensure proper restoration of the disturbed area.
Other Services
Public Works offers dumpster rental for residential projects, compost delivery from the Yard Waste Site, and assistance with special event barricade placement. Contact the department for availability, scheduling, and pricing.
