Parks & Trails
Waverly maintains over a dozen city parks totaling more than 200 acres of green space. Parks range from neighborhood pocket parks with playgrounds to larger community parks with athletic fields, picnic shelters, and river access. Kohlmann Park, Elm Park, and Northeast Park are among the most popular gathering spots.
The W Recreation Center
The W is Waverly's premier indoor recreation facility, offering a wide range of fitness and recreation opportunities for all ages. The facility includes a pool with waterslide, gymnasium, fitness center, walking track, group exercise studios, and a community room. The W is located at 400 4th Street SW.
Programs & Events
Leisure Services offers year-round youth programming including sports leagues, summer day camps, swimming lessons, arts and crafts workshops, and holiday break activities. Programs are designed for ages 3 through 18 and emphasize skill development, teamwork, and fun. Registration opens approximately one month before each season.
Permits & Reservations
Park shelter reservations are accepted starting January 2 each year for the upcoming season (May through October). Shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservation fees vary by shelter size and include use of picnic tables, grills, electricity, and restroom access.
