Garbage Collection

Residential garbage is collected weekly on your assigned collection day. Place your cart at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day with the handle facing your home. Standard residential service includes one 96-gallon cart. Additional carts and extra bags are available for a fee.

Recycling Center

The Waverly Recycling Center is open to residents for drop-off of recyclable materials including cardboard, paper, plastics #1–#7, aluminum, tin cans, and glass. The center is located at the Public Works facility and is open during posted hours. Curbside recycling is collected every other week.

Bulky Items & Hazardous Waste

Large or bulky items such as furniture and appliances can be collected by appointment. Contact Public Works at (319) 352-6247 to schedule a pickup. Hazardous household waste, electronics, and tires are accepted at designated collection events held annually in partnership with Bremer County.

Spring & Fall Collections

The city holds Spring Clean-Up and Fall Clean-Up events each year, allowing residents to dispose of bulky items, yard waste, and other materials at no extra charge. Dates are announced on the city website and in utility bill inserts. Brush and yard waste may also be taken to the Yard Waste Site during posted hours.
