Open Records Requests
Under Iowa Code Chapter 22 (Iowa Open Records Law), most city records are available for public inspection. The City of Waverly is committed to transparency and will fulfill records requests as promptly as possible. Requests may be submitted in writing to the City Clerk at City Hall or by email.
What Is Available
Public records include City Council minutes and agendas, ordinances and resolutions, budgets and financial reports, building and zoning permits, and other documents created or maintained in the course of city business. Certain records, such as personnel files and ongoing investigation materials, may be exempt under state law.
Response Times & Fees
The City Clerk will acknowledge receipt of a records request within two business days and aims to provide records within ten business days, depending on the scope of the request. Copies are provided at cost — typically $0.25 per page for paper copies. Electronic records may be provided at no charge when feasible.
